Join our team of dedicated doctors

National Home Doctor Service is Canada's largest network of house call doctors. Our team of doctors provides medical care to patients at home and in senior care facilities when their family doctor is not available.

We currently have opportunities across the Greater Toronto and Ottawa Areas. Our doctors treat acute, episodic illnesses and injuries, such as respiratory infections, gastro, fevers, urinary tract infections, and minor injuries from falls: conditions that, while not life-threatening, require medical attention.

Why consider working with us:

The work is flexible - Shifts can be structured around your other commitments.  You choose when you are available.

We have a great support team - We will facilitate admin and operations support on your behalf.  We can provide mentoring and education support.

Remuneration is excellent - You retain 70% of billings.  Our team will take care of all the OHIP processing for you. All doctors house calls are covered by OHIP.

Put your skills to the test - Visiting patients at home requires doctors to apply skills they may not use frequently in the practice.

Opportunities to work in other provinces and countries - As we expand our operations in Canada there will be many opportunities to work in other provinces and countries, either for extended periods or simply for short periods at a time.

Help us meet community and primary health needs - We work with many other organisations in the development of innovative solutions to existing gaps within the primary health system. Examples of types of projects include education and program development, clinical governance and mentoring, palliative care support, emergency avoidance and support, telehealth.

Play an important role within the healthcare system – House calls are becoming increasingly rare within family practice.  A large portion of the population require access to care not only after hours but to care that can be delivered to the home.  Join us in closing the gap and creating access for vulnerable patient groups.

What do doctors say about the work - “I have practiced as an after hours practitioner for 26 years now and I still enjoy the variety of cases and the challenge of providing care for acute conditions.  It is amazing how grateful patients are when you visit them in the after hours.  It proves to me time and time again that we are meeting a real need in the community.  We are also relieving pressure on hospital ED and supporting the family physicians in the after hours.”  Dr Umberto Russo.
